ABOUT OUR REGION

LOCAL DEVELOPMENT… REGIONAL SCALE

Maintaining our local economic development office is very important, we also believe that working on a regional scale strengthens our local efforts and allows us to compete more effectively in the evolving global economy. We participate on a regional scale through the following organizations.

ITC  works toward strengthening partnerships with the Private Sector, Government, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Education, the department of Workforce Development and Utilities.

WISER is a regional resource that serves 14 Western Indiana Counties with a focus on sustainable energy development, conservation and economic development. One of WISER’s many benefits involves partnering with Purdue University and Ivy Tech to develop curriculums and programs to recruit, train and prepare the Indiana workforce for sustainable energy opportunities of tomorrow.

Benton County is one of the twelve counties located in the area designated by the State of Indiana as Indiana Economic Growth Region 4.

In 2005, the HHR was awarded one of thirteen Workforce Innovations in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) grants that were distributed across the nation. Benton County is one of 14 counties located in the HHR. The goal of the grant work was to identify how the region would move forward with a new regional identity in a meaningful and sustainable way.
